          POR-15 ENGINE PAINT KIT INSTRUCTIONS

Follow the step-by-step instructions carefully and you will be rewarded with the best and most permanent engine paint job you've ever seen ..

Step 1: Mix one part POR-15 Marine Clean with three parts water. For heavily caked-on grease mix 1 to 1 ratio and brush the solution onto the area to be painted to degrease and clean the engine .. Scrub until all the grease is gone and then rinse thoroughly with water to dilute and remove the solution.. Let the part dry completely..

Step 2 : Next with a wire brush , remove any loose rust , paint , or remaining dirt from the engine .. For best results use the wire brush on all the parts and areas to be painted..

Step 3 : Spray Por-15 Metal Ready on all areas to be painted .. Keep the area wet for 15 to 20 minutes .. If the area begins to dry during that time , re-spray it .. After  soaking , rinse the area thoroughly with water and let it dry .. The Metal Ready will neutralize the rust , and etch the metal for better adhesion , and coat the area with zinc phosphate to inhibit further rust ..

Step 4 : After the area is " completely " dry , brush on a thin , covering coat of POR-15 .. Start at the top of the engine and work downward .. Be careful not to let the POR-15 puddle in the low areas.. POR-15 is used as a primer coat on the bare engine .. Apply the color coat just after the POR-15 dries ..              ( approx.3-4 hours. ) Make sure you have ample time before applying the POR-15..

STEP 5 : For best results apply the Engine Enamel when the POR-15 is just dry to the touch , with a little finger drag ..( usually in about 3-4 hours ) .. Brush on one coat of Engine Enamel .. Unlike other paints, POR-15 Engine Paints have a very high pigment content .. ( 80 % Solids ) that provides a beautiful finish with just one coat .. Because of it's makeup , POR-15 Engine Enamel will dry to the touch overnight , but may take several days to fully cure ..
