POR-15 Fire Seal 2000
Fire Seal 2000 is an inorganic mineral-rich ceramic paste ,
metal-filled for added strength and able to withstand
temperatures in excess of 2000 F (1200 C).
Fire Seal 2000
is a water-based, ceramic and stainless steel-filled putty
that is resistant to fuels, oils, and corrosive materials ,non-flammable and easy and safe to use. Fire Seal 2000
bonds aggressively to cast iron and carbon steel and is
strengthened by exposure to heat.
Use it to repair high
temperature, low pressure exhaust leaks from the
cylinder head to the muffler as well as leaks in wood
stoves, barbecues, and furnaces.
Surface Preparation:
Remove loose rust with wire brush
or sanding tool. Sandblast if possible. V-groove the crack
and drill holes through ends with 1/8” drill bit. Remove dirt
or oil with lacquer thinner and use a propane torch to burn
off residue and remove moisture.
Application:
Mix contents of tube by squeezing it in
different directions. Spread Fire Seal 2000 evenly with
a putty knife. Seal tube to save unused material. For
pits, cracks, and small holes, maximum thickness of 3/8”
(10mm) is recommended. For larger holes, use fine
screening as a membrane.
Curing:
Air dry 13-24 hours (48 hours in humid
environments), then idle engine or heat repair gradually for
10-15 minutes to fully cure. Sand Fire Seal 2000 after fully
cured using a file or medium grit sandpaper. Use dust mask
to avoid breathing dust.
Machining:
Sand Fire Seal 2000 after it is fully cured, using a fi le or
medium grit sandpaper. Do not use a lubricant for
machining. Make sure to wear a dust mask to prevent
inhalation of sanding dust.
Storage:
Store unused Fire Seal 2000 between 45-90OF (10-35OC).
Do not permit freezing. Avoid contact with eyes. Avoid
prolonged contact with skin. In case of skin contact, flush
thoroughly with water. Keep out of reach of children.
Caution:
Be careful to avoid contact with eyes and skin. If product
gets into eyes, flush with copious amounts of fresh water. Get
prompt medical attention. If swallowed, drink large quantities of
milk or water. KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN.
